Gidget Fuentes is a freelance writer and journalist, based in Southern California. She’s been covering and reporting on the military — and in particular the U.S. Marine Corps — for 25+ years, on a wide range of issues, from training and operations to legal, health, medical and veterans issues. Most of her professional work came writing for Marine Corps Times and Navy Times, part of the Military Times family of newspapers that serve as a trade pub for military service members and their families. She’s reported on and covered the military services, primarily the Marine Corps and the Navy. Often, she reported from naval ships at sea and overseas during military operations or training at military bases around the U.S. and in places including Japan, Iraq, the Mediterranean, Australia and Somalia.
